White Heads ASWA All-State Baseball Squad
Gatorade state Player of the Year Mikey White of Spain Park heads the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State baseball team.
A shortstop/pitcher for the Jaguars, White was selected the Class 6A Player of the Year by the ASWA prep committee. The Alabama signee led Spain Park to the semifinal round of playoffs before falling in three games to eventual champion Oxford.
Oxford’s Tucker Simpson was named Pitcher of the Year while Clay-Chalkville’s Dylan Smith was the Hitter of the Year.
In Class 5A, Cullman’s Keegan Thompson was the Pitcher and Player of the Year and Russell County’s Rock Rucker was the Hitter of the Year.
Class 4A state champion Guntersville’s Clayton Daniel earned Pitcher of the Year honors while teammate Evan Holland was the Hitter of the Year. Bibb County’s Jalen Goree was selected Player of the Year.
The Class 3A Pitcher and Player of the Year was T.R. Miller’s Kevin Davis while West Morgan’s Trey Mathis was the Hitter of the Year.
In Class 2A, champion Mars Hill Bible dominated the awards with Thomas Burrows selected the Hitter and Player of the Year and teammate Glenn Irby named the Pitcher of the Year.
Class 1A champion Shoals Christian earned all three honors with Will Bishop selected the Hitter and Player of the Year and Devan Traglia the Pitcher of the Year.
Mr. Baseball and the ASWA Super All-State team will be released on Monday.
