Daphne’s Peyton Grantham hit a two-run homerun in the second game and earned MVP honors for the South. The soon-to-be senior's blast gave the South stars a 6-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning and the team held on for the win.

The South took advantage of two North errors and scored three unearned runs in the win. Kasey Cooper added an RBI-single in the second inning while South teammate Whitney Gillespie of Pelham also drove in an insurance run in the seventh inning.

The North was led by MVP Margaret Willis. The Sparkman standout answered Grantham’s homer with a two-run shot of her own in the bottom of the frame to pull the North squad to within a single run.

Game 1: South 0, North 0 (7 innings)
Seven different pitchers combined for a complete-game shutout for both teams. The South squad produced just four hits in the opener while the North squad was held to two hits.

The North team had the best scoring opportunity in the top of the seventh inning when Lawrence County’s Mackenzie Hill reached third after a single and two stolen bases. Pelham hurler Whitney Gillespie got the South team out of the jam, however, by recording a groundout to end the scoring threat.
