Football Scheduling Guidelines
REMINDER: If you have an out-of-state team on your schedule, email to adavis@ahsaa.com the date, opponent and site for each one. Each team will be approved and added to our website data base, then you can post each one to your online schdule.
Sample Round-Robin Scheduling Formats
With travel being a major factor, the football region alignment is uneven—some with 7 teams, some with 8 teams, and some with 9 teams.
7-Team Regions: Leave weeks 1, 5 and 10 open for non-region games and schedule the six region games over the other seven weeks (2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9).
8-Team Regions: Leave weeks 1, 5 and 10 open for non-region games and schedule region games on the other seven weeks (2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9).
9-Team Regions: Leave week 10 open and draw for the other week to leave open for non-region games. Each team would then have eight weeks to schedule its region games. The nine-team regions in Classes 2A and 3A will have the opportunity to schedule teams from the adjoining nine-team area (one team in each region will have one week without a region opponent in weeks 1-9).
