CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM FOR OFFICIALS

The Classification system is based upon 7 categories listed below.  Each category that involves an assessed rating is based on the scale indicated above.

Class 4 Official has a range of points from 90 to 100
Class 3 Official has a range of points from 80 to 89.9
Class 2 Official has a range of points from 70 to 79.9
Class 1 Official has a range of points from   0 to 69.9

District Director Rating = Maximum of 25 Points (5 points X Assessed Rating)
Local Association Rating = Maximum of 5 Points (1 Point X Assessed Rating)
Coaches Rating = Maximum of 5 Points (1Point X Assessed Rating)
District Camp Attendance = 10 Points
State Camp Attendance = 15 Points
Classification Advancement Rules Exam = Maximum of 30 Points based upon 100% grading scale.
Years of Experience = Maximum of 10 Points based on following scale:
                                1 - 5 = 2 Points
                                6 - 10 = 4 Points
                              11 - 15 = 6 Points
                              16 - 20 = 8 Points
                              21 - Infinity = 10 Points

District Director Rating = Reviewed Annually.  Points good until next assessment.
Local Association Rating = Reviewed Annually. Points good until next assessment.
Coaches Rating = Reviewed Annually. Points good until next assessment.
District Camp Attendance = Points good for 1 year based on most recent appearance.
State Camp Attendance = Points good for 4 years based on most recent appearance.
Classification Advancement Rules Exam = Points good for 3 years based on most recent attempt.
Years of Experience = Good for length of AHSAA career.
                   (Out of State NFHS experience is included with proper documentation)

NEW FOR 2014-15 SCHOOL YEAR: Your Classification Status as an official will be based upon the current year's information.  Example:  The school year 2014-15 status is based upon what the official did during the 2014-15 school year.  Each year the Classification Status information will be collected, confirmed and finalized prior to the playoffs for that year.  The Classification for the school year begins with the state camps in the summer at the start of the school year.  It ends with the district directors rating meeting prior to the playoffs.
