AHSAA Mourns Death Of Coach Terry Burt


     The AHSAA is saddened to learn of the death of Elmore County High School coach and teacher Terry Burt and joins with its member schools in offering condolences to his family and extended family at Elmore County High School. Burt, 75, passed away at his home Friday.
     Visitation will be Sunday at Linville Memorial Funeral Home in Eclectic from 4-8 p.m. The funeral is scheduled Monday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Eclectic, followed by burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Greenville at 3 p.m.
     Burt coached football for 28 years at Elmore County and compiled a career record of 187-115-4 with three state championships.  He served as athletic director from 1963-2001. 
     Also, he was assistant coach at Phenix City for two years and at Livingston High School one year.  He was state coach of the year three times and was selected by his peers as one of the Top 20 coaches in the state in 1985. 
     The graduate of Greenville High School and Livingston University was inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1985.
