Marvin Chou To Join AHSAA Staff As Webmaster

 

        Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Executive Director Steve Savarese announced Thursday the hiring of Marvin Chou, 36, currently the Physical Education Department Chair for K-4 at Randolph School in Huntsville. Chou will join the AHSAA Jan. 2, 2014 in the newly-created position of Webmaster. He will also coordinate the sports of soccer and swimming and diving and as well as assist with other championship sports.
        “Marvin will help us move forward as we strive to provide the best website possible for our member schools,” Savarese said. “He fully understands the AHSAA’s education-based athletics mission and is extremely talented.”
        Chou, who coaches soccer and swimming at Randolph, currently serves on the NFHS Swimming and Diving Rules Committee as the representative from Section III, which is comprised of Alabama
and seven other state associations. He is also the District 8 representative on the AHSAA Swimming and Diving Coaches Committee.

        “I want to thank Randolph for giving me the opportunity to be a teacher and coach here for the last 12 years,” Chou said. “It is my alma mater, and they have helped me grow so much. I really appreciate it.

        “I am also looking forward to joining the staff at the AHSAA. I have the utmost respect for them and the jobs that they do, and I am eager to join them. I can’t wait to start.”

        A teacher and coach at Randolph since 2001, his girls’ soccer teams won the Class 1A-4A state championship in 2009 and 2013 and were runner-up in 2006 and 2012. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), American Swimming Coaches Association, Alabama High School Soccer Coaches Association and the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association. He was selected NSCAA Girls Soccer Coach of the Year for Alabama four of the last five years.
        As a collegiate swimmer, Chou was selected All-Conference at Lake Forrest College in Illinois. He also attended Auburn University and Alabama A&M University, where he graduated Cum Laude.
