NFHS Ban On Concept 1 Shoes Is Lifted



The ban of a new product on the market called Concept 1 shoes has been removed, according to an announcement Thursday by the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS).

“Based on discussions with Athletic Propulsion Labs, Inc., and on an examination of pertinent research, we have concluded that Concept 1 shoes do not violate Rule 3-5-4,” said Mary Struckhoff, NFHS Assistant Director and Basketball Rules Editor and National Interpreter. “Thus the ban under NFHS Basketball Rule 3-5-4 should be immediately lifted.”

Under the initial marketing claims made by the company, the product would be prohibited for competition based on NFHS Basketball Rule 3-5-4.
