Tennis Mini-Clinic Provides Useful Information
 Some 30 tennis coaches were in Montgomery Thursday, Nov. 20, for the first annual Mini-Clinic Coaching Series. The day started with a time of fellowship over coffee and doughnuts provided by Krispy Kreme, followed by Alabama State tennis coach Bernard Sewell.  Participants were given that “up close and personal” treatment as he followed their presentations with an in-depth question-and-answer period.

After a time of door prizes, participants left for lunch and returned for an afternoon with Kevin Uler from Encore Rehabilitation on specific injuries and a demonstration of drills with AUM Coach Anuk Christiansz and several of his players at the college courts.

From the response given, coaches left the day with information they can use to better their programs, the main purpose of the series.

10 AHSADCA Scholarship Winners Selected
     Ten Coaches’ Children Scholarship winners have been selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AHSADCA), according to Director Steve Bailey.
     These $1,000 need-based scholarships, the first to be presented by the coaches group, are being awarded to college-bound students whose parents are active members of the AHSADCA. These will be presented to the graduating seniors July 17 at the Championship Awards Banquet during All-Star Sports Week in Huntsville.
     “We initiated this program to provide another service from our Association to our member coaches and athletic directors,” Bailey said. “We know a lot of them that work hard every day and we want to show our appreciation and to help them out.”
